The Shore Crew

Andy Davies (32yr Draughtsman from Darkest Wales) with no sporting ambitions except a strong passion for sailing as can been seen by this photo. Sponsored by a large brewing company? - 'probably'

Julie, Wendy and Lindi (30 somethings) all too wise to be involved in this foolishness, but their support for the team was like having three extra athletes

Where did we find such a "Motely Crew"?

October 1999 - Jim saw an article on the Three Peaks Yacht Race 2000 in Global Adventure Magazine written by Rob Howard. Little did he know that in just eight short months he would be being interviewed by the same journalist after he and his team had successfully completed the race

"The minute I saw the article I just knew I would do it one day..." - Jim

In March this year just 2 weeks before the entry closing date - "the idea just came back into my head, I hadn't even thought about it again".

" Although I felt the race had an aura of serious challenge around it, I thought that if you don't try you will never know - so I set out to find a team!"

Throughout the process of speaking to over 20 would be teammates he struck lucky with an old friend from university, Gareth, who also had a fellow school friend, Paul who was interested.

A casual mention by a friend of a friend to Wendy led her to declare that she was sure her fiancé, Graeme, and his friend Craig would love to join. Hey presto we struck gold with two marathon runners! Amazing.

The Team was forming, with each member knowing only one other. Jim, Craig and Graeme met for the first time at a restaurant in London while pouring over the route maps for the course and the team was cemented by the sounds of "awesome", "how far", "you're crazy" and "absolutely"!

A training session on board Gareths Beneteau 25 "No Limit" in May led to the inspiration of the name and a team was born.
